With so many materials available to us, it is becoming increasingly easier to learn about Jesus Christ. But are we also getting to know him?
With all the resources available to us, it can be easy to let a deluge of information about Jesus Christ wash over us without it truly influencing us. David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles gave a talk titled “If Ye Had Known Me” that has four ways to know Christ, rather than just know about him.
First, we can exercise faith in him. We can learn Christ’s teachings from the scriptures, then experiment on those teachings in our lives. Knowing that what he taught was real helps us know him.

Second, we can follow him. Trying to emulate Christ is another way to follow him. As we acquire Christ’s attributes as our own, we will know him because we will be like him.
Third, we can serve him. We serve Jesus Christ by serving our brothers and sisters, coming to know him as we feel his love for others.
Fourth, we can believe him. Many of us believe that Christ can help the world, but struggle to believe that he can truly help in our specific circumstances. By believing that Christ’s promises can operate in our lives, we will come to know him.
Elder Bednar says it best: “On a future day, ‘every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess’ that Jesus is the Christ. On that blessed day, we will know He knows each of us by name. And I witness and promise we can not only know about the Lord but also come to know Him as we exercise faith in, follow, serve, and believe Him.”
