Every story in the news highlights the instability of the world we live in. Wars, politics, violence, and hate are presented to us every day, and it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the fear that permeates the world. But in his talk entitled “The Key to Spiritual Protection,” President Boyd K. Packer gives us a way to set aside that fear and feel confident in the protection that we have been given.

“The scriptures hold the keys to spiritual protection,” he says. “They contain the doctrine and laws and ordinances that will bring each child of God to a testimony of Jesus Christ as the Savior and Redeemer.” By reading the scriptures we can be certain that we have all the knowledge we need to survive spiritually in this time of chaos. The scriptures teach us about the love of God, his commandments, and the blessing of repentance in our lives. Reading the scriptures regularly can bring peace into our lives because they make us aware of the promises and blessings that come from following the commandments of God.

The commandments that we are given show us the path we need to take to navigate the wars that surround us. By reading and applying the scriptures, our spiritual safety will multiply, and we will be confident in the peace that we feel even among the chaos.
