A Framework to Forget Fear

Believe in the promises of Jesus Christ and forget the fear in your life.

Fear can limit us in many ways, but it is most crippling when it limits our perspective as children of God. When we forget our divine potential as sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father, we forget about the miracles that happen in our lives every day. Then when we forget who we are and where we come from, it is easy to feel afraid, and the cycle continues. Fear will always stand in the way of feeling joy, peace, and goodness. But it will never overpower the celestial light of Jesus Christ.

In his October 2018 General Conference address “Be Not Troubled,” Elder Ronald A. Rasband promises that as we follow the Savior’s example and stay true to his gospel, we need not fear. Yet despite the divine guidance that we need not be fearful, it can still be difficult to avoid feelings of anxiety and concern in any aspect of life. Elder Rasband thus makes the following suggestions to help us forget fear based on promises given by the Lord:

    1. Stand in holy places. There is no room for fear in holy places of God.
    2. Be not troubled. Set aside worldly pressures and seek spirituality in your daily life.
    3. Trust the Lord and his promises. All his promises will be fulfilled.

By forgetting fear and placing trust in Heavenly Father, we open up pathways for personal progression. We allow for Christ’s atonement to take full effect in our lives. Most importantly, we uplift ourselves and others in faith.
