In a night of moving musical numbers and testimonies borne with sincerity, Latter-day Saints had the opportunity to ask questions to three of the Lord’s chosen servants. During the Face to Face devotional on March 8, 2016, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, Sister Carole M. Stephens, and Elder Donald L. Hallstrom answered questions from young single adults.

These leaders answered questions uniquely through their own stories, but they also counseled us to seek answers from sources we already have access to, such as the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet, Institute of Religion, and the scriptures. These resources will help us receive answers to questions; be worthy to enter the temple; and overcome our trials, doubts, and sorrows.

Besides using those resources to which we can look for answers, Sister Carole M. Stephens, first counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency, said that she audibly expresses gratitude for all inspiration that comes from the Spirit. She added that to tell if a thought is from the Spirit, realize that “anything that is good comes from the Spirit.” If it encourages you to do good or lifts you up, then it is God speaking.

There will be times in our lives where we need to make hard decisions. Elder Donald L. Hallstrom of the Seventy counseled that in these times, it is critical to have faith. “Establish a core [of faith] and continue to nurture it. Then it gives us the capacity to determine what complexities in life to embrace and what to discard,” he said.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared, “The gospel of Jesus Christ means everything to me. . . . Everything that matters to me, beginning with my family and going from there right out to each of you; everything I am grateful for I have because of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

And for any unanswered questions, Elder Holland said, “Whatever the question, the answer is the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
