God is calling out for you to come home—and asking you to help your brothers and sisters on their journey back.

Whether your family situation is idyllic and peaceful or strained and uncomfortable, you have a perfect home waiting for you up above.
In the talk “A Yearning for Home,” President Dieter F. Uchtdorf pleads with all to remember their heavenly home. Even if you feel unloved or unwanted in your earthly families, you have a loving Father who wants you to return to him. As President Uchtdorf explains, “The sublime message of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that God is our Father, that He cares about us, and that there is a way to return to Him.” President Uchtdorf gives two reasons why you should strive to get back home:
- Your life will be better. Sometimes it’s easy to look at the list of commandments and become overwhelmed by the number of things you’re expected to do. But turning to the Savior is not meant to be a burden. Christ said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). He will not take away every trial, but “he will walk beside you and even carry you when your need is greatest,” as President Uchtdorf testifies.
- God will use you to accomplish his work. You weren’t put on earth to go through life alone. Even if you think you have little to offer, you do have something to give. The scriptures contain multiple examples of men and women who felt inadequate yet did miraculous things (for example, see 2 Nephi 4:17–35; Moses 6:31–34; Exodus 4). God uses imperfect people to do his perfect work.
“God calls to you,” says President Uchtdorf. No matter your circumstances, your Heavenly Father is standing on the porch of heaven and is calling out to you. Will you heed his call?
