In a world where loving ourselves and others feels like a fading dream, we can learn how to love through Heavenly Father’s example.
Without a doubt, one of the most pervasive problems in today’s world is a lack of love. Individuals experience this lack of love as they struggle to love themselves, which can lead people to project their pain and hurt onto others—causing more pain in the process. When people harbor such harmful attitudes and perspectives about themselves and those around them, they find that love is like a fading dream: No matter how much people want or know they need love, it feels out of reach.

Love is not a fading dream. In fact, it is not a dream at all. When we choose to reach for and see how much our Heavenly Father loves each of us, we discover that love is a reality we can create. We can learn to see Heavenly Father’s love for us as we remember our divine heritage and potential. As we extend that love to the people around us, we start to see them like Heavenly Father does. We start to love them like he does. By striving to love ourselves and others the way our Heavenly Father loves us, we can prevail against our world’s growing tolerance for a lack of love.
